Shingles!!!

Despite a lot of wind today we got all the shingles on. We started around 10am and finished just before dark. The Salbato/Hammel construction company is tired but happy.

House Update

We've been at it the last few days since the weather has been a little warmer. The sheathing went up on the roof this afternoon despite the wind. Melissa did all the cuts on the ground. My dad did all the work moving the sheets to the roof and I got to play with the nail gun up on the roof. Thank God for dad!
We are hoping to start the shingles on Saturday. We still haven't decided on the siding material and we are making decisions about the house as well.
On another note Mara finished her first "Hooked on Phonics" series today. She is reading better everyday. She will be starting level 2 very soon.

Trinidad

This is one of the reasons I love Colorado. Of course the weather wasn't this great all week. Also the flu-bug found its way here for about the sixth time this winter. We lost a couple of pretty working days but got a bunch done today. It is snowing tonight so tomorrow won't see any work either. Hope everyone has a great day celebrating Christ's Resurrection!

Extra day of work

We were not expecting to be able to work this weekend but we didn't have to call any games so we got an extra day of work. We were able to get the rest of the trusses up.

Happy Birthday!!!

Today was Melissa's birthday. All she wanted was Trusses on the house. Unfortunately I didn't get off until 4pm so we only got about three hours of work in. With my dad scaling the rafters we got 10 of the 15 trusses up before dark fall. We still have a way to go but we are well on our way to a roof. Brittany and Melissa got things all ready and along with my mom they handed the trusses up to us. A real family effort today.
Now we will have a couple of days off before we can finish.

Hope everyone is well, mike

Still taking shape

Another great day (half day anyway) of construction. We got the OSB around the bottom and the top plate on. The Trusses are here and ready to go when we get the chance. The weather was great today. Like summer.
We almost can keep up with my dad. He keeps us hopping, and he tends to do the heavy lifting.
I managed to shoot myself with the nail gun. Praise the Lord I only grazed my stomach or it could have been bad. Good thing God looks out for computer geeks who play construction worker.
We are hoping to get Trusses up tomorrow but only time will tell if I can get more time off. Dad and I will be in Pueblo on Thursday-Saturday to announce at t he State Basketball Tourney. Go Hoehne!

Walls, Standing this time!

Well, with the help of my dad and Melissa's dad we now have the walls up. Despite the swamp like mud and some rain late in the afternoon we got that step finished. The trusses should arrive in the morning so up we go!!!

Walls!!!

Although we didn't actually get any of the walls standing today we do have three built. Mara was enjoying them anyway. The garage floor looks great and weather permitting the walls will soon be standing instead of laying on it. We had a few visitors this morning. About nine deer made their way through. I got more pictures but they were a bit far apart from each other to get a group shot.

Snow Snow and More Snow

Not very much to report on the house today. It snowed about a foot last night so we had a bunch of snow to remove. Our first pile of lumber should be here in the morning and the cement should be clear to walk on tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well, mike

Why 4M4C?

The address 4M4C isn't just a random web address. It stands for "Four M's (Myka, Mara, Melissa and Mike) for Christ". God has been working incredibly in our lives. We want to praise him in all we do.

We have a floor

The house project is moving forward. We now have a floor and foundation for our garage. The lumber for the walls and the trusses will be here in a couple of days. Melissa has the doors ready to order at Direct Buy. Now all we need to do is pick some siding and roofing materials. Decisions-decisions.
Melissa, Brit and Mara put the mailbox in also. We have a real address again.
Guess that's it for today...

Bye-Bye

Have a great day!

A Fresh Start

It has been a few months since we sold our house, coming up on eight months actually, but we are finally getting started on our "Dream" home. We are starting with the garage which will be seperated from the house by about ten feet. We spent the last week getting the site ready and, if the weather holds, we will have a big cement slab by tomorrow at this time. Exciting, I Know. It is a start that has been long overdue.
We are still making many decisions about the house itself. We have a floor plan but we keep changing the materials. The further into the process we get the more "green" the house gets. We are looking at some neat building and heating/cooling things that will hopefully be good for us and save us some money down the road.
Many more decisions to come...
With that said I hope you stop by every now and then to see how we are doing.
