Roof Work Continued

We got quite a bit done this weekend. Dad and I worked all day on Friday and got the big side done. Mom and Melissa got there later to help us.
We took Saturday off to call a football game in Pueblo.
After Church today we finished the other side. We still have to complete the roof over the dining room before we can shingle but we are making progress. Mom made her way up onto the roof and took some pictures Friday and helped dad up there today.
Thank God for good weather and great help.

Roof work

Mom, Dad, Keith, Melissa and I have spent the last couple of days putting sheathing on the roof. Tonight we finished putting the eves up on the ends. On Friday we will hopefully finish the sheathing. Things are moving along pretty good. If the weather holds we may get it roughed in soon.
Mom was even up on the roof tonight. I asked her to get me a hammer and next thing I knew she was up there with me. She is now our gopher and picture taker.

Up we go

We started the roof this afternoon. We got five Trusses up so it is a start. We can't start until 4:30 so we don't get to work very long before darkness overtakes us. The first couple are always slower but we should move faster now. It is a awesome view from up there but I think I prefer the ground. We will get more done tomorrow and prayerfully finish up on Saturday.
The far away picture is our house from on top of Simpsons rest.

Sub-Floor

Well, we didn't get as much done as we were hoping but we did hit the halfway point. The kitchen, dining room, second bedroom and a big part of the living room have floor. It is awesome to stand an look out at what the view will look like from different places in the house.
I think the kitchen looks huge but Melissa thinks it will be just right.

Dad and I were pretty spent after getting back from Salida at 1 a.m.
We called a football game between Trinidad and Salida. Trinidad won.

As for the floor, we were hitting our stride pretty good around 5 p.m. tonight after Melissa got the nail gun working. We had been nailing by hand before that. It shouldn't take too much longer to wrap this up and move to the walls.

More Floor

We finished the joists yesterday and the rim boards tonight. We actually put one sheet of flooring on but that was just for our own entertainment. It is awesome to stand up there. If we get some good weather on Saturday we should be able to sheet most of it. Framing is awesome.

Floor Work

We spent most of the weekend preparing the area but it was worth it as today we made some big strides. Woody, Dad and Uncle George came to help us start the floor system. We got quite a bit done and it is really square so far. I need to finalize our plans for the stairs and we have a few more joists to put up but I am hopeful that we will be working on walls by next week at this time.
Mara and Myka went to the parade and spent the rest of the day with their Nana. We are all going to sleep great tonight.
Back to work tomorrow! Melissa will be back in the classroom for the first time in about three years. She will be teaching music part time at Hoehne. It's about time she picked the right school. Pray for her and the girls as they aren't use to spending this much time apart.
